i'm happy to announce that her tears were my light can now be played in-browser for free!

last year i released this game on steam with some additional bonus content, and due to steam's policies, i could no longer offer the pc version for a lower price here on itch.io. the mobile version has remained free to play because the policy doesn't apply to ports on other systems, however, in the past year i've received many complaints that the pc version is paid-only.

hopefully having a free web version available will make the game more accessible to those who aren't able to pay, but still wanted to enjoy or revisit this old story!

ren'py web is still in beta, so it doesn't work flawlessly in all browsers--i hadn't done web versions in the past because i wasn't confident in the quality of the gameplay experience, but it's come a long way since then! so i feel comfortable offering the web version for free (with the bonus features removed), while keeping the download version paid (fully featured, matching the steam version).

on that note, because there are lots of versions and it might be confusing, here is the summary of what each of them contains:

• steam: paid-only, extras gallery includes photo studio and dev commentary, currently missing 2 translations
• itch.io (download): same as steam version
• itch.io (in-browser): free to play, extras gallery includes illustrations+music only, fully translated
• google play: free to play, extras gallery includes illustrations+music and photo studio, fully translated

if the browser version doesn't work for you and you're not able to purchase the game or play the android version, please feel free to look up a playthrough on youtube and watch it there. i've done my best to make my games accessible as possible, and frankly it's disheartening to see people feel entitled to my works. please show your support to artists and indie developers by paying for games you like when you can--i really don't think that's asking too much!

thank you to everyone who has enjoyed this game... i hope that me venting my frustrations a bit here hasn't spoiled the game for anyone, i just wanted to be honest about how i've been feeling. thanks for understanding... i genuinely hope everyone can enjoy the web version too ^^
